Welcome

The Organizing Committee for the International Workshop in Colloidal and Interfacial Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (CAI-STEM) invites you to submit an abstract and/or register for the Conference being held August 23-29, 2014, in Cancun, Mexico. This conference is a follow up to the highly successful Workshop on Bridging Nanscale Forces and Interfacial Phenomena to the Macroscopic World which was held in Cancun in 2006. A special issue of Langmuir will be published in conjunction with the conference.

Early Registration deadline: August 4, 2014 (after this date, registration fees will increase)

This meeting, which will take place at the Fiestamericana Condesa Hotel, will bring together experimental and computational scientists to explore various aspects of biomolecular surface interactions in the following general areas:

  • Interactions in colloidal and nanoparticle systems
  • Colloidal and Adhesion Forces in Liquids
  • Forces in Biological Systems
  • Multi-scale Modeling Related to Surface Forces
  • Single-Molecule Forces Single-Molecule Force Measurements
  • Capillary and Related Surface and Interfacial Tension Forces
  • Tribological Phenomena
  • Dynamics and non-equilibrium interactions and phenomena
  • Instrumental Developments

Abstract deadline: August 4, 2014

Format for abstracts: One should include text or a MS word file with 300-800 words. If you would like to include a figure, each figure will count as 250 words. The abstract should include a short title and all authors who contributed to the work and their affiliations. Underlined the presenting author and if desired one can include the funding source(s) at the end of the text.

All posters must be printed by the author prior to their arrival to the workshop. Poster size must be 2.5 x 3 ft in landscape orientation. It is recommended that poster presenters watch the following ACS-webinar for tips on poster presentations:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-SRWog-5Is

View the conference schedule to learn more about the meeting. Note that additional speakers will be selected from among submitted abstracts.

Submission of Featured Articles, Historical Reviews, Articles, Letters, or Instructional Reviews is strongly encouraged. Further information on the manuscript types is available at http://pubs.acs.org/page/langd5/submission/authors.html
